As the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) increases in Australia, PCCV and Polcare thought it might be timely to provide an update to our clients, participants, parents and carers and Polish School students with the latest advice from Government. PCCV is continuing to keep a close eye on the latest information coming from the Australian Federal Government, NSW Health, VIC Health , ACT Health, and SA Health and is responding as needed.
The current advice is:
- Any client, participant or staff member who has been in, or transited through, mainland China (not just Hubei province) or has been in Iran, be excluded from work, school or child care services for 14 days from the date they left mainland China or Iran (as the COVID-19 incubation period can be as long as two weeks).
- Any client , participant, student who is in close contact with someone who has been in, or transited through, mainland China (not just Hubei province) or has been in Iran, be excluded from work, school or child care services for 14 days from the date the contact returned.
- Any client, participant, student or staff member who has returned to Australia from mainland China more than 14 days ago or from Iran on or after 1 March 2020 and have shown no symptoms during the self-isolation period, are able to return to school or work.
Consistent with PCCV’s and Polcare’s current Policies and procedures, any client, participant, student, staff member who is unwell with respiratory illness and/or fever should stay at home until symptoms are resolved and notify our staff. Maintaining good hygiene standards is still one of the best ways to reduce the risk of acquiring and spreading respiratory infections and we would like to ask parents and carers to promote good hygiene, including handwashing, at home as this is still the most effective way to reduce the spread of germs.
While the risk to clients, participants, students and staff remains low, it is important that we all stay well informed. PCCV and Polcare will continue to provide regular updates and information to our clients, participants and their parents/carers as it comes to hand, and we will be providing you with details of our Coronavirus Response Plan in the near future.
