TRIBUTE TO KOMEDA

Polish Film Festival Australia presents the musical concert ‘Tribute to Komeda’ performed by Adam Simmons Creative Music Ensemble, with special guest Tony Gould playing piano!

Krzysztof Komeda was a prominent Polish music composer and jazz pianist. You may recognise his scores in Roman Polanski’s film’s ‘Knife in the Water’(1962), ‘Rosemary’s Baby’(1968) and more. His album Astigmatic (1965) is commonly regarded as one of the most important European jazz albums. He influenced the Polish jazz scene and amazed his audience with his unique aesthetic.

Musician Adam Simmons is a composer and plays multiple instruments including the saxophone, clarinet and flute. He plays in many different scenes and genres; jazz, punk, traditional Japanese, funk and more. He works internationally and with various artists from across the world.

Adam Simmons Creative Music Ensemble have previously performed at the Sydney Opera House for the Freedman Awards. The group has also performed at the Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival, Wentworth Arts Festival, Festival of Slow Music and for Adam’s two year concert series.

Tony Gould has developed his own distinctive style over the years and is able to put on a different but magical show, every time he performs on piano. He is influenced by artists like Bach, Stravinsky and Jackson Pollock.
